You can catch Bill Llewellyn on the Discovery Times program "Doping to Win" this Tues, Aug 10 @ 8pm EST.

Assuming it's not sitting on the cutting room floor, Bill will provide the voice of expertise and reason when it comes to understanding steroids. The producers from Australia promised an objective piece but we'll have to see how it actually turns out. Check your local listings and tune in!--CM

Dang, I don't get the Discovery channel on my TV, I saw him on the Fox special though, but certainly wasn't impressed with the one-sided perspective of that particular documentary..

Don't get me started on the Fox piece. I was threatening to sue them for 3 days after I saw the preview that Thursday. It is funny that they approached me claiming to be sincere about wanting to do a truthful show. The producer even told me they had to scrap another show on Roidrage because they couldn't find any victims, and it was really opening their minds about the subject. They layed it on thick about doing an objective show, and what they ended up producing was anything but.

Honestly, I was surprised, as I did a good job making sure they had a balanced show. I even insisted that Dr. Nick Evans participate before I would agree to do it. I assumed that other shows were turning out so bad because they only had one side represented. Little did I know, no matter how well our side was represented this time, it would all wind up on the cuttingroom floor. They only aired 5 seconds of Dr. Nick (prob to meet their agreed obligation with me)! They cut his entire interview because it contradicted the anti-steroid message of Wadler and Pope. This was my first opportunity to see the media truly steer a piece from the inside, and I must say it was ugly to witness. It makes me really question where the ethics of journalism have gone.

I caught mostof it but got home late - damn it! Bill L did areally great job. Too bad he was the only expert. They had some bodybuilder on the show but they hid his identity so you couldn't tell who it was.

Thanks for letting us know about the show cmoe!

Relatively speaking, it was a fairly objective...much better than what we've seen thus far in terms on media objectivity on the subject. For those of you that missed it, here is the schedule for encore presentations of the documentary:

Aug 11 2004 @ 04:00 AM Doping to Win
Aug 11 2004 @ 07:00 AM Doping to Win
Aug 11 2004 @ 12:00 PM Doping to Win
Aug 11 2004 @ 03:00 PM Doping to Win

Looks like we've already missed some of them. Check your local listings.

Glad you had a chance to catch it BluSteel!--CM
